    Ethiopia, China sign accord for cultural exchange program

    Ethiopia and China here on Wednesday signed an agreement enabling to implement cultural exchange program from 2010 to 2013.

     

    Culture and Tourism Minister Ambassador Mahmoud Dirir and Chinese ambassador to Ethiopia Gu Xiaojie signed the agreement.

    The agreement will enable both countries to cooperate in culture and arts, relics and books, broadcasting, film and television.

    Accordingly, the countries will cooperate through the exchange of high level government cultural delegation, art troupe, artists, writers and arts exhibitions.

    A film week will be held that would help to enhance people to people relations of the two countries.

    Ambassador Mahmoud on the occasion said the agreement will further enhance the age long relations of the two sisterly countries.

    He said China is model to other countries in poverty eradication.

    The Chinese Ambassador on his part said signing of the agreement is taking place at a time when both countries are in the atmosphere of celebrating the 40th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations.

    His country is to launch its new year in February, he said, adding, utmost efforts are being exerted to further scale up the cooperation between the two countries.

    The ambassador said a cultural delegation led by Ambassador Mahmoud Dirir would go to China soon.
